Everything you need to know about suitable qualifications
When it comes to insurance, what qualifications you need can be a bit of a tricky subject. Although you’ve got all the training you need under your belt, not every course is accepted by every insurance company and, particularly in the hair and beauty industry, it’s difficult to know exactly which qualifications you need to be accepted.
At Salon Saver, we believe in making the process of understanding the qualifications you need as easy as possible. We’ve compiled all the information you need in this handy guide, so you know exactly what you need to be insured by us.
If you’re a student, and you currently don’t have your qualification, don’t fret! We do provide specialist insurance for those studying for a qualification too – for more information on this, please visit our Student Insurance page.
No more waiting for your documents or calling — everything we do is online, all the time.
Our policies have only the core covers you need, so you’ll never pay more than you have to.
No need to show us your qualifications; you’ll be covered from the moment you buy.
We’ve been working at this for over 20 years, and our knowledge is second to none.
In order to be insured for any Salon Saver salon policy, or Salon Gold freelance or mobile insurance policy, you need to hold a suitable qualification. This means that you need a qualification relevant to the treatment or therapy you wish to practice, and this has to have been issued by a school, college, university or company. It will also have to be accredited by a suitable third-party UK professional body, such as the following:
Some examples of qualifications that we accept include:
We can also accept some individual day courses taken for specific treatments or therapies, so long as they’ve been completed in a school, college or university and have been accredited by a UK professional body. Please note, we can only provide cover for hair extensions if you’re a fully qualified hairdresser or beauty therapist, and have attended a UK-accredited course for the hair extension method you’re using.
Below, we’ve put together of all the professions we can cover on Salon Saver, or through our Salon Gold freelance and mobile insurance policies. You’ll be able to find a list of treatments covered on the relevant profession’s page:
Please note, you’ll be covered for all the automatic treatments or therapies listed against your professions, as long as you hold a UK-recognised and accredited qualification in those treatments or therapies undertaken. You’ll be able to select more than one profession on our quote form, so if one profession doesn’t cover you for all the work you do, you can always add another to ensure comprehensive cover across the board.
We won’t ask to see copies of your qualifications before your policy comes into effect, however you will be expected to produce any relevant certificates if you need to make a claim on your policy.
By completing our online quote form, you’re confirming that you possess the relevant qualifications for the treatments or therapies that you provide within your business. We will not be able to cover you if you don’t hold the relevant qualifications necessary for the treatments or therapies you have performed if you make a claim.
