Pretty In Pastel: The Pastel Trends That Will Have You Looking Summer Ready

Kate RussellBy Kate Russell on June 27th, 2018

One of spring and summers biggest trends for 2018 is pastels. This soft and feminine palette is bigger than many imagine, including not only baby pink and lilac, but also soft mint greens and vintage-inspired lemon yellow. This summer, however, the pastel trend isn’t just for fashion. Pastel palettes are taking over the beauty world when it comes to nails, make-up and even hair and we’re loving all the summer feels it’s bringing with it.

If you’re struggling to choose between baby blue and mint ice cream green, then who says you need to? Manicures with several colours are trending all over social media this summer, so you can choose your top three or four shades and just enjoy them all. When it comes to pastels, every colour goes with the next, so instead of finishing with a gaudy or loud result, the end look is still chic and pretty.

Blending two trends into one manicure, why not mix your pastel palette with a marble effect? It’s one of the other hottest nail trends of the season and works perfectly with a soft pastel grey, blue or pink.

Pastel make-up could be one of the trickiest trends to tackle when it comes to this summer look. However, it’s all about finding the perfect product for you. Search for eyeshadow palettes with a strong pigment, so that the colour pops, looking purposeful and not dated. Applying different colours on the top lid and lower lash line gives the look a contemporary feel and adding a strong wing in matte black adds definition for an evening look.

Giving us serious festival vibes, the pastel lip is not for the discreet and natural make-up lovers out there. However, its on-trend quirkiness is proving to be the hit of the season and has been seen surfing Instagram as one of the hottest trends at this summer’s music festivals. Paired with a lot of glitter and crystals, as well as some very reflective cheek highlight, the pastel lip is providing music lovers with the fun, mermaid-esque look they crave.

Pastel hair is not new, but it’s just as on-trend for 2018. We’re seeing soft, silvery pinks and lilacs, which are difficult to achieve but so worth the extra efforts.

Again, for people struggling to pick their favourite pastel shade, a blending pastel ‘do is just for you. Some call it pastel rainbow, some call it mermaid or even unicorn. Whatever you label it, this trend continues to make waves on social media as more and more colour-lovers take the plunge.

It’s a super-pretty look, with an edgy, fashion-forward twist and pastels appear to be here to stay. Whether you like a head to toe result or pops of pastel on your nails or through your hair, this trend is providing us with a plethora of stylish options to try out. So, the only question left to ask is, which pastel beauty look will you be channelling this summer?
