On The Beach: The Make-Up Trends Everyone’s Sure To Be Rocking This Summer

There’s make-up trends every season without doubt, but this season there really is something for everyone. It’s all about working colour in new ways, experimenting with classics and being a little bit more adventurous, but only if you please. If you feel like being natural and nude, don’t worry, there’s a trend for you too.

From the polar opposites of natural to neon, this summer’s hottest trends are giving us serious options. You’ll see these top looks at every festival and flooding every Insta feed. However, we’re not jaded – these looks are trends for a reason.

Neon eyeshadow

The neon eyeshadow trend has been making the rounds on social media and it certainly seems like it’s not going anywhere. There’s nothing neat about this colour trend; it’s all about throwing the colour onto the lid in more of an abstract way. Don’t be afraid to fill the entire lid with colour and to mix and match between different neons. Orange and pink work, or how about lime and blue? It’s all about getting creative.

Metallic eyeshadow

Metallics are huge in fashion right now and the boat doesn’t stop there. Metallic eyeshadow is sweeping our Instagram feeds and we, for one, aren’t mad about it. Gold, warm rose gold or striking silver, this usual Christmas make-up look is the hit of the summertime. Don’t use sparingly – the thicker and more pigmented the colour, the better, for a bold, statement look.

Ultra-black liner

This trend takes a classic winged black liner and takes it to the extreme – think Audrey Hepburn times 100. It’s all about a perfect liquid line for this look. Our tip? It’s best to start small on the wing and build the line up, so that you can create the perfect shape, matching on both sides. Keep the lid base clean and natural and go as heavy as you like on the lashes.

Glowy skin

While it’s always ideal to have fresh, glowy skin, this season’s complexion trend is super natural with a beautiful glowy finish. Matte is out this season and skin should have total sheer coverage and a dewy, almost translucent, sheen. To achieve this look, keep the rest of the make-up natural; soft, nude lips and simple lashes.

Rhinestone eyes

We’re so happy about this summer make-up trend. Yes, this one is perhaps not for the beach, but it’s certainly evening beach party-ready. Add some ultra-chic rhinestones to the corners of your black wing and you’ve nailed it.

Mirrored lips

There’s high-shine gloss and then there’s the mirrored lips trend. This look cannot get glossy enough. Whether you opt for nude undertones or a strong bold colour, the overall finish needs to be impossibly glossy. It’s the ultimate summertime vibe.
